During all this hot, hot weather the Highwood River can be a great spot to cool off and have some fun with friends.

However, Scott Mueller of High River recently found out some thoughtless people can make it a messy, unsafe place to go.

He recently went to a favourite spot, one day it was spotless, the next day when he went back with his family it was littered with broken glass and lots of garbage.

"We were there on Sunday. I went there, Gary and my cousin Tyler and we took the three dogs. It was beautiful," said Mueller. "There was nothing, there were two garbage cans set up like someone had set up it up for people to put their garbage in and they were empty.  We go there on Monday with all the family and I set the dog down and she stepped right into a pile of glass."

He adds if people continue to make messes like that they are going to ruin it for others who just want to enjoy being outdoors.

"They are going to put in restrictions, they are going to make it no trespassing down there and you won't be able to go down there if you keep making a mess like that."

Mueller says he doesn't want to take his kids to the hospital or his puppy to the vet if they get cut because someone chose to break their glass bottles instead of hauling them out.

The family spent over an hour cleaning up so they could enjoy the area.
