The final deadline to drop off Christmas Boxes to Samaritans purse is coming up fast.

Frank King, media relations manager with Samaritans Purse says they are taking the boxes until December 8th at noon at their processing centre at 20 Hopewell Way N.E.

"That is near the intersection at Barlow Trail and McKnight Boulevard," said King. "You can drop off your shoe boxes as late as noon on December 8th. That is our last day that we will be actually inspecting the shoe boxes before shipping them out of the building."

Another point to consider is the boxes are shipped to countries around the world all year long.

"In a lot of the countries we distribute they don't celebrate Christmas."

So whenever the boxes arrive it is a celebration.

"Some of them have never received a gift in their entire life and all of a sudden they are getting this beautiful box loaded with all kinds of stuff, that maybe we don't care about much in Canada but is immeasurable value to them."

King says for children to get a gift for the first time from a person in a country they have never heard of, is a powerful symbol for hope, and joy.

"Whatever is going on in their life, someone in a whole other part of the world has given them this box."

To make things even easier you can also go online to pack a box.
