It was an overall good year for the Christ The Redeemer School Division in 2014 and 2015, with plenty to be excited about.

With the announcement of the future Davisburg school to help ease the load off of other schools, Superintendent Scott Morrison says he couldn't be happier.

Morrison says the educational funding announcement from the newly formed NDP government was the icing on the cake.

"It was certainly good news to have the funding restored," he says. "A lot of people it was increased, it wasn't. We had funding restored for next year to this year's levels, and to get that restored and hire more teachers was really good for us."

Morrison says he can't say enough about the new school opening in Davisburg and making classes smaller.

"That's really going to relieve some pressure in Okotoks," he says. "Our biggest thing is dealing with expanding enrollment, we're always growing by two to five percent in Okotoks, so just getting our students and schools to fit as many is a relief."

Morrison noted some of the highlights for the division, including its 95 per cent approval rating, which he says is a feather in the cap to all educators in the division.

He also says school safety was at an all-time high.

"We got our results in May, in many areas we got the highest results in the history of our division so we were really excited," he says. "Some of the highights were that, I think, 94 percent of our stake holders said the kids felt safe and cared for at our schools."
