Changes and improvements to the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex is making the community jewel an even better place.

First up, finding out what is going on at the Rec-Plex just got a whole lot easier than ever thanks to the new town website.

Recreation Administration and Programming Supervisor Tracy Morgan says it's a big improvement.

"Parks and Recreation is one of the first tabs so it is really easy to find all of our schedules," said Morgan. "I know our clients have struggled in the past with trying to find the schedule so now it is really, really easy. You have all of our swimming schedule, large arena, small arena and field house are all loaded on that website.

Morgan says she hopes that clients will find it user friendly.

Second if you haven't been for a swim recently now might be the perfect time to check out the improvements to the pool.

Morgan says feedback about the changes has been great.

"Our summer has been extremely busy with lessons and our regular programming that goes on. We had a little bit of issues with the hot tub but we have that all sorted out now. The pool looks bright, huge and white. We have had great feedback from the community. The new lights make all the difference in how bright it is."

Other highlights include new tiles in the change rooms and people have told Morgan that it feels like a brand new pool.

And third, it may look like summer still outside but it definitely has a bit of a winter feel to it at the Rec-Plex.

The ice is already in on the large ice surface and hockey camps get underway this week.

It will be a couple of weeks for the ice to be in at the curling rink and on the small ice surface but after Sept. 16 everything will be in full swing and the rec-plex will be a very busy place.
