Don't count High River Chamber of Commerce President Steven Muth among those singing the praises of this week's proposed amendments to Alberta's labour laws.

Muth says even the name of the bill "The Family-Friendly Workplaces Act" gives him the "heebie-jeebies."

"Anytime a government uses a term like "Fair and Family Friendly" it's very similar, in my opinion, to a Communist regime saying that they're the "People's Democratic Republic." You know depending on which side of it you're on, there ain't nothing "Fair" or "Family Friendly" about aspects of Bill 17."

He says it fixes some inequalities in regards to workers with disabilities, and other issues along those lines.

But he says when it comes to the changes related to organizing unions, that's bad news for businesses.
