A great way to promote local business returns to Okotoks.

For the second straight year Cash Mobs will be set-up encouraging residents to shop local.

Cash Mob Coordinator Trina Boyd says it all gets started Thursday night.

"Everyone who wants to be involved, they come and meet us just before 7 o'clock and we're just going to meet outside Monkey Mountain," she says. "At seven p.m. I will announce the surprise place we're going to mob and we'll all move from there."

Boyd says cash mobs are a great way to keep local businesses thriving.

"It's important to get fully involved with the local community and local businesses," she says. "The businesses I get involved with are local residents and they hire local people so I really want to basically help them out and keep them here in the last year we injected $7000 into the local economy."

Boyd says the cash mob is open to everyone and asks all that partake to bring some enough money to buy something special.

"We ask that everybody brings at least $20 to spend at the mob store, so basically if 20-30 of us are there and we spend $20 its quite the cash injection for a local business so it it ust helps them out, we get something really cool and we get exposed to new business."
