With a new Provincial Carbon Tax coming in January 1st, many are asking how it will work with a proposed Federal Carbon Tax.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says if a Province already has a Carbon Tax, the Federal one won't apply.

But Foothills MP John Barlow says that's not quite right.

"Right now we're going to go to $30/tonne by 2018 I think. While the Federal Government wants $50/tonne by 2022. If Alberta, whoever's in government by that point, says well, we're not going any higher that $30, then the Liberals will impose that additional $20/tonne."

Barlow says that amounts to the government imposing a punitive Carbon Tax on Canadians, but also infringing on Provincial jurisdiction, which he says will lead to court challenges.
