All of Alberta's main political parties will be keeping a close eye on Tuesdays byelection in the riding of Calgary-Greenway.

The seat was left vacant following the untimely death of former PC Cabinet Minister Manmeet Bhullar last November when he died in a tragic crash on the QE-II north of Calgary while stopping to help another driver.

Political observers say the PC's need to win the seat to remain relevant and perhaps quiet critics who are pushing for them to merge with the Wildrose.

But, the seat is just as important to both the Wildrose and the governing NDP, who will both view a win there as legitimizing their parties platforms.
