Okotoks was the home of a mobile skating rink Friday afternoon... all about promoting women's hockey.

The Clarkson Cup Tour showed off the Canadian Women's Hockey League Trophy and gave aspiring young hockey players a chance to meet and skate with members of Team Canada's gold medal team at the 2014 Sochi olympics.

Hailey Irwin was one of the skaters and enjoyed her time getting to know the youngsters skating alongside  future Olympians like herself.

"It's been awesome," she says. "The weather was beautiful to start and there's been a ton of kids come out, it's in a great location as Megan Mickellson's hockey school is happening around the same time, so there's tons of girls out which is exciting for us as we're trying to grow our game."

The tour was set-up in the Pason Centennial Arena parking lot and patrons got to get their picture taken with the CWHL's holy grail and receive autographs from the players in attendance.

Irwin says doing events like this really puts things into perspective.

"You have these little girls and even the little boys, they want to know who you play for and where you play," she says. "It's not everyday you get to reach out to kids at this age and let them know those types of things, hopefully that's something they'll tell their friends and that's how word gets around."
