RCMP are warning residents in rural areas to be careful after a shot was fired in a farm shop break-in.

Cochrane RCMP responded to a break-in in progress to a farm shop located in Springbank at 7 a.m.  

Employees of the shop interrupted the suspects and tried to stop them from leaving the property.

The property owner followed the thieves to a parking lot and tried to block the Ford truck from leaving when a second vehicle pulled up and fired a shot at him.  

The vehicles involved are a black Ford F150 FX4 with a distinct red pinstripe down the side and an Alberta license plate on it and a red higher end SUV with an Idaho license plate on it.

 If you recognize those vehicles in your area do not approach these people, call 911 immediately.
