The Town of Black Diamond will now be a place for electric car users to charge up.

Two charging stations will be installed at the town office soon.

Mayor Sharlene Brown says it was only a matter of time before they would had them anyway.

"We are moving ahead with the Sun Country Highway proposal and putting in two charging stations at the town office," she says. "The total is going to be for just over $2600 for this."

Brown says getting the charging stations is just a way of times with the emphasis on going green.

"We've been a leader in around our renewables, we've been a leader for small communities of our size, so this another opportunity reducing our reliance on fossil fuels, and looking in how assist in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions."

With the charging stations going up, one of the stations will have a special setting for an elite car if it makes it's way into Black Diamond.

"There's one specifically a Tesla and those are really nice cars," Brown says. "As things move forward and I believe my understanding is that in future years, the prices of those luxury cars are going to be coming down and they might be something that is going to be available for everybody, instead of having high end users."
