A lot of local voters took advantage of the advance polls held last weekend.

According to Elections Canada 12,712 people cast their ballots in the new Foothills riding over the course of four days.

In the new Bow River riding to the east 8,074 votes were cast.

A comparison to the previous election is hard to make since the riding boundaries have changed and in the MacLeod riding there was a by-election in June of 2014.

Across Canada 3.6 million votes were cast and that's up from 2.1 million in 2011.

Monday is election day.
