Foothills MP John Barlow isn't sitting in parliament these days, but he was anchored to a bicycle seat for two days last weekend for a good cause.

Barlow and friends raised about $10,500  for his Ride To Horizon venture.

"All the money is going to operations and renovations at Camp Easter Seals, it's a camp near Bragg Creek that caters mainly to children with disabilities, but adults as well, about 1,400 children from across Alberta go there," Barlow says.

He rode about 200 kilometres from the south end of his riding in Crowsnest Pass all the way to the camp near Bragg Creek.

"It's about 100 kilometres each day, all uphill, kind of tough terrain, it's not something you really have to train for necessarily, you just have a good bike and we have some amazing bicycle shops in the riding so by all means there are a lot of people that will help you, but I'm kind of addicted to it," he says.

While the ride is done Barlow says people can still make a donation through the Ride to Horizon facebook page or the Easter Seals Camp Horizon page
