Foothills M.P. John Barlow has added more work to his already busy schedule.

He's been named the Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Natural Resources.

He says it goes to show he's making an impression in Ottawa.

"I'm very honoured to have the support of my colleagues on my committee on all parties. So it goes to show they have some confidence in me, but it also shows that our leadership and Rona Ambrose also has confidence in me to nominate me for that position. And I think that's a testament to the work we've done so far."

Barlow says he's already looking to make an impact on the Committee.

He says his the first study the Committee will look at is one he brought forward, and that's to take a look at the viability of the Oil and Gas Industry and it's impact on the Canadian economy and labour.

The committee deals with issues surrounding industry sectors like oil and gas, forestry and mining among others.
