The Town of Nanton will soon be back up to full strength when it comes to Doctors in town.

Dr. Stephane Kallos will join the Nanton Medical Centre team this summer replacing Dr. Dulynn Hastings, who's decided to move on.

Mayor Rick Everett says Kallos' specialty makes him perfectly suited for Nanton.

"He got his training in rural medicine, and wants to continue to train. Young man. He's committed to rural medicine and loves the town. As a matter of fact, within three days of his interview he asked for the job, and we hadn't even interviewed the other two Doctors yet."

Hastings, is leaving after only practicing in Nanton since January of 2015.

Everett says he's hoping Kallos is the "real deal" who'll stick around a bit longer.

"We try to explain to potential physicians, that when you come to our town, you create and impact. When you leave our town, you also create an impact. I personally don't think, and neither does the committee, think it's fair to the community to come in, spend a year and leave again and continue to have revolving Doctors. We like some sense of security."

Everett says Kallos will commute back and forth from Calgary, where his wife also works as a Doctor.

Everett says it's not important to him that the Doctors they hire live in town, but that they commit to being there to serve their patients no matter the time of year.
