Grass fire season continues to rear it's ugly head in the Foothills, luckily low wind speeds and a quick response from the Okotoks Fire Department lead to no significant damage.

A fire broke out on 48th St and 354 Avenue, west of Okotoks near Bar Pipe Ranch Wednesday morning.

The fire grew to two acres in size before fire crews got it under control.

Fire fighters are still on the scene checking for hot spots but the fire is out and there was no major damage caused.

Okotoks Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says the ignition source was near the approach heading into the field and there were used roman candle fireworks nearby.

The M.D. of Foothills does have a complete fire ban in place until there is enough moisture in the area.
