One big project will be on Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson's plate over the summer holidays.

That's getting work moving ahead on replacing the Centre Street bridge in High River.

Anderson says he's been talking with Transportation Minister Brian Mason about it, but he says he'll have to keep after him over the summer.

He says he and High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass had a meeting set up this spring, but Mason postponed that meeting for some reason.

"I think we're still trying to move ahead with it. If I get a chance this summer to try and discuss moving the timeline forward for raising the Centre Street bridge. As I said it's important. And it's been something we've been working on for a while and I'm looking forward to meeting with him (Mason) when I can. As I said, the Mayor and I have been discussing this for some time. I think we've got a good plan in place, we just have to be able to get some time with the Minister and actually work out the details."

Anderson says the cost to replace the bridge is between $50 and $57 million dollars.

Anderson says he has his work cut out for him keeping the needs of High River and it's unfinished mitigation projects on the front burner for the NDP, particularly in the wake of the fires in Fort McMurray this spring.

But Anderson says he has a reputation in Edmonton of being "persistent."
