Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson has already been in the ear of Alberta's new Municipal Affairs Minister about the latest issues with the Disaster Recovery Program.

High River Mayor Craig Snodgrass is anything but happy with news of the program looking to claw money back from residents and others claims being denied over non-existent appeal deadlines.

Anderson says he had a "face-to-face" meeting with Danielle Larivee Thursday morning.

"Nothing in writing yet, but a verbal commitment to relax some of the requests for refunds. And I've also suggested strongly that for them prematurely closing files without notification or communication, they said that they understood that and they were going to try to put a halt to that."

Anderson says Larivee, who went through the fires while living in Slave Lake in 2012, is empathetic to the DRP situation in High River and the M.D. of Foothills.

He says he has high hopes they can work together to resolve this issue.
