The increasing number of incidents of intolerance have the government looking for ways to battle racism.

Education Minister David Eggen says he's met with many groups that face discrimination and that's highlighted the need to do more.

"Since we started this consultation process we saw events in the States, we saw events in Europe and right here in Alberta that just underlines the importance of this work to stand together," he says. "We've seen where people have been experiencing more, sort of overt acts of racism, it seems like there's more permission somehow where people feel less inhibited to saw objectionable things."

Eggen is hoping Albertans will go to the government's web site before September 22 and fill out the survey there to help come up with ways to battle racism.
