As of 8 P.M. Thursday night Rainbow Esso on 12th Avenue SE in High River will close its doors for good.

Owners Irv and Kaye Cherneski ran the station for thirty-one years and Kaye still kept it up after her husband passed away four years ago.

She says its time for her to do some things she enjoys.

"Just relax and enjoy my garden and go visit my grandchildren and do all the things I've put off for thirty years. I can travel, I can go visit my  Mom in Edmonton who just had her 90th birthday. I haven't been free to go do that, now I will be."

She says she had to sell all of the merchandise in the store prior to the new tenants taking over and adds that's why there's nothing available for purchase except fuel.

She says Parkland Fuels Corporation will be officially taking over operations Friday morning at 8 A.M.

She says her husband Irv, who passed away four years ago decided it was time for a change so they went shopping for a business to buy.

"We bought it from someone else. My husband was in construction for twenty-five years and in 1985 we bought it. He'd been an iron worker for twenty-five years and decided it's time to do something different. So, he paced for three months then we went looking for a business to buy and we ended up with this one."

She says she's looking forward to a little time to relax and spend time with her grandchildren, gardening and her mother who just turned 90, just to finally enjoy retirement.
