It's back to work Monday, August 21 for Town Councillors in High River and they're going to be greeted with a rather lengthy agenda.

Councillors will hear from a delegation from a group called Take A Stand For The Upper Highwood, who are opposed to planned clear cut logging near the Highwood junction.

It'll also be asked to sign off on a letter of support to the Blue Cross Healthy Communities Grant for money to pave a portion of the Happy Trail, the Town's 150 Legacy project.

And after last year's record dump of snow, council will discuss a snow and ice control policy for this winter.

Town growth will be discussed as council considers annexing some Country Residential properties between 112 Street and Highway 2, south of 498 Avenue.

Council will also be asked to adjust property taxes for a previously annexed property.

Taxes have increased close to 300 per cent since the property moved into the town, however the owners point out they don't receive any town services.

Recreation and emergency preparedness are on the agenda as well.

A new Recreation Facilities Rate Structure Policy will be discussed.

It would see a basic rate set for each facility for certain times of the day and set percentages for different groups using them, like youth, adults and seniors.

Council will also get an update on a new inclusive cycling program called Cycling Without Age.

There'll also be a review of the Municipal Emergency Management Plan along with the naming of three Deputy Director's of Emergency Management and the signing of a huge Mutual Aid Agreement.

The meeting starts at 3 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
