As the air deflates from the bouncy castles at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex it's fair to say the event was a success. The 2016 Family Day celebrations were enjoyed by all yesterday.

Parent Mike Buscholl says since his moved back to High River they look forward to the event every year.

"It's great. This is our second year and it's just great that the town puts it on."

He says his wife and three kids make a day of it and think it's a great way to spend the day as a family.

High River parent Sarah Lee says their five kids love the event and enjoyed the new additions this year.

"The pools is always what they're really excited about but they've expanded to more things since the this Field house has been up. The bouncy houses and all the games in there are always eye catching."

She says her family has been going to the event for as long as she can remember.

She says her extended family have also made it an annual tradition as well.

Sarah Lee can't remember when she started going but others within her extended family have started to follow her lead.

"Just in our family there's five and my sisters family is coming to meet us and they've made it a tradition as well."

Among the new additions like the bouncy castles and slides, free swimming and skating were also part of the event.

The event was put together by the generous support of High River businesses and there's talk of new additions to the event next year.
