The River City Classics Car club's Show and Shine was a big success again this year and that's translated into cash for 18 local groups.

Car Club resident Jeff Langford says the event where they hand out the cheques, for them, is one of the highlights of the year.

"It's nights like tonight where you get to hear where the money's actually going and how important it is to all these different charities out there and how hard it is to raise money this year, it's really a great feeling, especially at Christmas time especially for the members," he says. "We've had a few members come up and say it was really heartfelt stories that they heard from people about how the money was so important to them and how they were going to use it."

Ken Braat with the Holy Spirit School says the donation makes a real difference for their lunch program.
"It's everything," he says. "We appreciate all the donations because it goes so far and Natalie, who's the chairperson of that committee, that makes her year go that much better because heaven forbid we run out of money before we run out of school year."

Spitzee elementary school principal Brooke MacNeill says it's a huge help for their lunch program as well.

"Donations like this allow us to keep providing healthy foods for our children," she says. "Without donations like this we are then looking at fundraising, at doing all sorts of things
and we would never be able to raise enough funds to actually bring in the amount of food that's required to feed out kids."
