We're still no closer to replacing the Centre Street Bridge in High River.

Highwood MLA Wayne Anderson says he's bringing it up with the NDP whenever he can, but says he's getting the run around.

"I've had fairly frank discussions in the Legislature. I did a members statement and a question on it with the Minister of Infrastructure (Brian Mason), he pushed it back to Environment. Environment pushed it back to Infrastructure. So you can tell these two ministries are kind of battling it back and forth."

He says the Town and the MD are ready to put in the cash to get it done, but the Province is dead set in putting in flood gates instead.

Anderson says that money could be better spent getting the bridge projected started.

But so far that plea has fallen on deaf ears.

Anderson says all he's heard from the Province is "crickets."

Anderson says it's a shovel ready project and is badly needed to work in concert with the Town's other flood mitigation measures.
