Twenty-five dollar a day daycare is a reality in Alberta, at least in the 22 centres taking part in the pilot project.

Right now the project is limited to non-profit daycare's, but Premier Rachel Notley says that could change.

"Well certainly what we'd like to see is all parents in the Province have access to affordable, quality childcare. So that certainly means coming up with a made in Alberta solution. And I would certainly see in the future that we may be partnering with the "for profit" daycare centres as well."

If you were hoping for a local day care centre to offer the service at the capped rate, your out of luck, as the closest to us are in Calgary with five locations, while the rest are in Edmonton and Northern Alberta.

In all, just under 1,300 subsidized day care spaces are up for grabs.
