Christmas tree lots might not be as plentiful this year as in years past.

Some are having trouble coming up with stock, but Mark Sawatsky with the 1st High River Scouts says they're open for business.

"I been in contact with the same guys for the last ten years or so, so I usually get the same number, adjusting a little back and forth, but never had a problem getting trees although there's been threats of it," he says. "I used to get them from Idaho but they've run out of the trees over the last three years so I get our groomed trees from Ontario and our wild cut ones come from B.C.

The "scraggly" Christmas tree in New York's Rockefeller Square has kind of typified this year, and now some people are looking for a scraggly tree of their own.

Sawatsky says he can help you out with that.

"Yes we've got some pine trees lodge pole pine, and those ones are $30 and all of our B.C. trees are $30 and they range in size from 5 to 10, 11, 12 feet."

They open Saturday November 20 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekdays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. by the Sobeys.

They will have hand sanitizer and masks on hand and there will be social distancing to keep everyone safe.
