The 100 Women Who Care Foothills are ready to hand out some more money to a deserving local group or charity this week.

Founder Karen Love says the ladies will gather Thursday, November 2, at 7 p.m. at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club in Okotoks.

"What we do is, anyone who attends, who's a member of 100 Women, they can actually make a nomination for any local charity in the Foothills. So all those names go into a hamster ball, a very professional hamster ball. And then we draw out three. The ladies that make the nominations get five minutes to basically sell why we should choose their nominations. Then all the ladies vote anonymously and whoever gets the most votes, gets the money."

Love says while the donations won't sustain a charity on their own, they do help.

"What we like about it is when you apply for funding as charity, there's a whole bunch of outcomes you must meet. The only outcome we have is that a staff member comes out to the next meeting and tells us what they did with the money. What a bonus, you actually find out where your $100 went."

Love says last time they had 47 ladies donate $100 each, she's hoping to hit 50 this time out.
