Not since 2007 have the Town's of Turner Valley and Black Diamond talked about becoming one town.

Those talks are now back on the table, and voters could be asked once again to make a decision in next fall's civic elections.

Turner Valley Mayor Kelly Tuck says before they can even ask the question, they need to get the pulse of both communities.

"People are saying they want to know what it's going to look like. At the end of it, is it going to save them any money? And until we actually do a business case and look at exactly what the infrastructure looks like. What cost are with each municipality, that's really hard to say. I think a merger of two communities needs to have the "buy in" of all people. Of all residents."

The 2007 vote was split between the two Town's with Turner Valley for it, and Black Diamond against it, with a margin of victory of around 100 votes.

The big issues at the time were over policing costs and the recently opened Turner Valley raw water storage reservoir, which has since become one of the main sources of clean water for both Towns following the 2013 flood.
