Golf season is inching closer here in the Foothills.

One notorious late starter is the Turner Valley Golf Club, simply because they're closer the mountains and they usually get more snow than the rest of the local courses, with this year being no exception.

General Manager J.D. Scheller says they're still a ways away from opening the gates for the year.

"Yeah, I think so, we're just moving snow off our greens and fairways and are hoping to open sometime around (Friday) May 11th."

Scheller says the delay is already taking a bite out of their bottom line.

"Absolutely, I said we're a month behind last year, and you never make those days up. So, the faster we get open the better off we'll be."

Scheller says even when they open, golfers can still expect to find some patches of snow around the course.
