Okotoks Mark Sutherland had a heck of a run over four days of racing at the Heritage Days Stampede in Strathmore.

But he fell just short, finishing third in the aggregate, about two seconds back of defending champion Kurt Bensmiller, who took the title for the second straight year Monday, August 5.

Sutherland had the second fastest time of the day as he looked to overtake Bensmiller, but the Dewberry cowboy, was a step faster posting the fastest time of the day.

High River's Jason Glass was ninth in the aggregate, while fellow High River Driver, Jordie Fike was 10th.

The strong finish from Sutherland boosts him up to fourth in the World Standings with three races left to go.

The drivers head to Dawson Creek to start five days of racing at the Exhibition and Stampede there Wednesday, August 7.
