One of the big reasons for the High River Flyers success this season is the stellar play of forward Davis Sheldon.

Sheldon leads the league in scoring with 30 goals and 53 points in 23 games.

Flyers Coach Tyson Avery says they haven't had a player like this since Alex Pronchuk led the league in scoring back in the 2013-2014 season with 43 goals and 79 points.

"It's really nice to have someone you can rely on game in and game out. But at the same time, if he's not scoring we have other guys stepping up to the plate."

Avery says having Sheldon on such a tear, makes it easier on the other guys who don't draw as much attention from opponents top checkers, allowing them to score more, which in turn has resulted in the Flyers being a contender this year.

The Flyers take on Strathmore, Cochrane and Okotoks this weekend.
