Today is the final day for the 2017 Pickleball Open at the Cargill Field House in High River.

With well over 100 games a day and 200 players it's been a busy weekend.

May 14 is the day for the ladies to compete and they had a little surprise for each one to mark Mother's Day.

Organizer Brian Popowitch says next year, which will be year three for the tournament, will be even better.

"The reason why people come back is because of the hospitality of High River," said Popowitch. 'We filled up in a week-and-a-half, we had waiting lists."

He said all the highest levels of players were here, but they also made sure everyone was included.

"We added, which was really a bonus, was the two-five level, which is the beginners and they are having a great time and improving in each game."

Popowitch says the goal of the league sanctioned tournament isn't necessarily to keep getting bigger.

"Getting bigger is better, but getting better is better," he said.
