It was a wild west shoot-out at the Pason centennial Arena on January 5th as the Okotoks Oilers hosted the Brooks Bandits.

In the end the Oilers won 4 to 2 over their rivals, making it a clean sweep of all six of their regular season meet-ups, something that has never happened in the history of the team.

Forward Kyle Gordon got the game winning goal.

"I think after we scored our second goal to go up two to nothing we kind of held back a bit," said Gordon. "We were kind of more goal focused, than we made two mistakes and the game was tied just like that. After that we kind-of realized if we were going to win we can't try and just score we have to play D."

The team was very excited about the win.

"At the start of the year if you told us we were going to beat Brooks six times we would have laughed. We are a young team and we are playing really well, we get excited for these games and I thought we played really well."

Not much time to bask in their success as they head to Camrose on January 6th to take on the Kodiaks.

"They are a really good team, they are hard to play against they are tenacious. They have good forwards, fast forwards and good D, we just have to play our game and get the win out."

The puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Encana Arena.
