The Calgary Canucks gave the Okotoks Oilers a bit of a scare in the opener of their first round playoff series Thursday, March 7 at the Pason Centennial Arena.

The Canucks scored early and often as they jumped out to a 5-2 lead over the hometown Oilers heading into the third period of last night's game.

However the Oilers bounced back with three goals in the final 1:03.

Marc Pasemko got the ball rolling on the power play to cut the lead to 5-3.

Then it was the Kyle Gordon show as the Captain scored at 19:29 to make it 5-4 and then again at 19:48 to send it to overtime.

Gordon then sent the fans home happy with the winner at 9:04 of overtime to give the Oilers a 6-5 win and the series lead, one game to none.

One factor going against the Oilers were four of their big guns out with injuries, in Dylan Holloway, Austin Wong, Zane Kindrachuk and Ryan Grant.

All could be back in the line-up for game two in the best of five series which goes Friday, March 8 starting at 7 o'clock in Okotoks.
