The Oilers will face the second half of their former team September 17 at the Centennial Arena.

At the end of the season last  year the Strathmore CFR Bison's were split into two teams with half going to Okotoks and half going to Okotoks and today they will meet up in an exhibition game.

Head coach Kevin Willison says he's happy with the effort the players are putting into making this team gel.

"We certainly have a long way to go," said Willison. "It has been a lot of fun. We have seen a lot of kids try out for here and we are down to 29 players now."

They need to have the number down to 20 by next weekend.

They had a tough week with six games in seven days.

"Which is a lot for these guys. That is why we have so many bodies here. We want to make sure they are not tiring themselves out or getting hurt. We want to have a look at a lot of kids."

He added it is a big learning curve.

"To play at this level, there is going to be some great teams in this league. The Alberta Midget Hockey League is a very elite league. There are only two kids in that locker room that played midget triple A last year so it is a learning curve for the rest."
