With the holidays rounding the corner hockey fans are getting excited for the Mac's Major Midget Tournament.

The tournament features 25 teams from around the globe coming to Calgary and play for a chance at the Mac's Midget Trophy

This year's tournament celebrates 42 years of the Mac's and this year's theme is "Bringing Communities Together."

The tournament runs from Boxing Day to New Year's Day.

Five local teams host five pools of five teams each for a total of 25 teams.

Pool 1 is hosted by The Calgary Buffaloes in the pool;

- Prince Alberta

- Sherwood Park Ennis Kings

- AK Bars Academy

Pool 2 is hosted by the Calgary AAA Midget Flames in the pool;

- Calgary Flames

- Chicago Mission

- Red Deer Optimist Chiefs

- Saskatoon Blazers

- Vancouver North West Hawks

Pool 3 is hosted by The Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers in the pool;

- Okotoks Bow Mark Oilers

- Fort Saskatchewan Rangers

- Lloydminister Bobcats

- Okanagan Rockets

- Swift Current Legionnaires

Pool 4 is hosted by The Calgary Royals in the pool;

- Calgary Royals

- Airdrie CFR Bisons

- Cariboo Cougars

- Moose Jaw Warriors

- St Albert Raiders

Pool 5 is hosted by The Calgary Northstars in the pool;

- Beardys Blackhawks

- Grande Peace Storm

- Vancouver North East Chiefs

 Among the 25 teams, only two do not represent Canada.

Pool 1's AK Bars Academy out of Russia comes in as an obvious team to keep an eye on.

The Russian squad will have a chance to break the rust off after a long flight in a pre-tournament game against the Bow Mark Oilers, The Oilers will host the Russians on Monday, December 23 at the Pason Centennial Arena in Okotoks.

Also joining the tournament from outside of the country is the Chicago Mission, the U.S. team in Pool 2 will not have as long of a flight as the Russians however will still need to settle in after coming up from the U.S.

The Mission's first match-up will be against the NW Hawks out of Vancouver on day 1 of the tournament.

The Oilers open the Mac's on Boxing Day at 12:45 p.m. against the Okanagan Rockets at the Ken Bracko Arena in the Max Bell Centre.
