A 3-3 thriller Wednesday, January 3, in Okotoks as the "AAA" Okotoks Midget Bow Mark Oilers squared off against Canada's Women's Olympic Hockey Team.

1,148 people packed the Pason Centennial Arena to take in the game.

Team Canada forward Natalie Spooner says they can feel the pressure build as they get ready to head to the Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

"Being a hockey player in Canada, there's always a lot of pressure. You know, we've won four (Olympic) gold medals in the past and I think as a team we just embrace that pressure and drive off of it. we feel ready, we're obviously still improving and still kind of fine tuning some things, but we're excited and ready to go for another one."

Veteran ladies goaltender, Shannon Szabados, says they definitely enjoy their experience as role models for young hockey players.

"One of the things that kind of makes every rink feel like a home rink for us is all the little girls and boys in the stands. It was cute to see, there was a bunch of them along the glass with their signs and stuff, so it's exciting for us. We have a great group of girls that are some pretty good role models for them."

The ladies continue to gear up for the Olympics in starting Friday, January 9.

The Midget Oilers are back in action Saturday, January 6, when they head to Calgary to face the Midget Flames.
