The Alberta men's curling playdowns got underway Wednesday, February 5 in Westlock.

The Glencoe Club's Jeremy Harty rink, which features Okotoks Kyler Kleibrink playing third, scored three in the ninth end and two more in the tenth to defeat the Calgary Curling Club's Robert Johnson rink 9-6 in their opener.

Turner Valley's Jacob Libbus, in Pool "A" faces a stiff challenge in his first draw Wednesday night when they take on the Brendan Bottcher rink out of Edmonton.

The winner Sunday, February 8, heads to the Brier in Kingston Ontario at the end of February.
