The AJHL Camrose Kodiaks snuck into the foothills to find a local player they hope can make a difference for them this season.

Sam Callahan is from the Blackie area and looking forward to the start of the Kodiak's training camp Monday, August 23rd.

He says coaches have told him what they like about his game.

"When I was talking with the coach he really liked the way I play, I'm a bigger guy obviously, using my size and the way I win battles in the corners and in front of the net are the main things."

Callahan played for the Bow Mark AAA Oilers in Okotoks last season and the U16 AAA Oilers the season before that.

He's been told to prepare for some good battles and tough games as the team prepares for the regular season, and can't wait to get going.

"Well just to play some hockey games again, our season got cut really short only playing five games in AAA and it's been a while so I'm really excited to get back to some games for sure," says Callahan.

He heads up Sunday to move in with his billets and then the practices start Monday.
