The High River Flyers put up a valiant fight Friday February 15, but their season is now over thanks to a 3-1 loss to the Cochrane Generals.

The best of three series goes to the Generals two games to none.

The Flyers got on the board first on a goal from Josh Russo, assisted from Jharin Bantugan at the 10:37 mark of the second period.

But it didn't last long as the generals responded 12 seconds later to tie it up heading into the third period.

The Generals scored on a powerplay 2:36 into the final period before potting an empty net goal with 1:54 left to secure the win and move on to Round two of the Heritage Junior "B" Hockey League Playoffs.

The Generals peppered Flyers netminder Chantz Vinck with 44 shots, while the Flyers managed 25 shots on the Generals.

The Generals now face the Okotoks Bisons in the best of seven, Heritage League South Division semi-final.

They're still working out the details of the series schedule.
