The Foothills Composite Falcons are one step closer to going to the provincial final.

They won 54-15 over the Medicine Hat Mohawks in tier two high school football quarterfinals at Falcon's field November 11th.

Coach Darren Olson says they took a lot of penalties.

"We can't afford that going forward,' said Olsen. "I think they were pretty excited about the game and really looking forward to it. We can't afford those kind of penalties going forward so we have to be way more disciplined next week.

He added a strong start to the second half helped them cement the win.

"The start of the second half when we get three turnovers, their first three possessions and we turned them all into touchdowns. That's huge and that is the kind of thing we expect from our defence. We've got a young defense but they make plays and they give us the ball when we need it. They really answered the bell for us today."

They play the Hunting Hills Lightning for the regional finals in Leduc next weekend.
