The Okotoks Dawgs have named their award winners for the 2017 season.

Infielder and DH Kody Funderburk was named Most Valuable Player while Matt Lloyd snagged the Rookie of the Year honours.

Funderburk blasted a franchise record, and league-leading, 15 regular season home runs in his first year with the Dawgs winning the MVP crowns for both the Dawgs and the entire Western Major Baseball League.

Lloyd played four different positions and batted .402.

Tyler Burdett was named Pitcher of the Year and the True Grit Award went to Eddie Sanchez.

Burdett racked up 13 saves, the most in the league, and allowed just two earned runs in 24 innings of work, good for a 0.75 era.

Sanchez had a .341 batting average, 31 walks and 11 stolen bases

The Dawgs also announced their guest speaker for the January 27, 2018 awards banquet will be Bo Levi Mitchell, quarterback of the Calgary Sstampeders, who's no stranger to Seaman Stadium having won the home run derby there during the Field of Dreams event.
