The Willow Creek Cobras Football team may have a few challenges to face this year if they hope to repeat as Tier IV Provincial Champions.

Head coach Tim Bryson says the they lost 12 graduating players last year, out of a team of 25, but overall the things are looking good.

"It was a fair hit," said Bryson."It was a bit of challenge this year. I think it is going to be a work in progress, but I think we are aiming for late October into November to be really clicking on all cylinders."

He added they do have some excellent talent that has returned.

"Our quarterback is maybe the best quarterback in the province in our tier. Our running backs are exceptional. We have the makings of very good lines on both sides of the ball."

The offense is coming along a bit faster than the defense.

"It is just going to take some time and some experience and just trying to get a feel and not try to get a feel, like not having to think so much and just react and flow to the ball."

He said once the team starts to do that the team will be fine.

"We have a very, very good defensive line and I think that can help overcome a lot of areas where you might be inexperienced."

The Cobras play this Friday, Sept. 7th against Wetaskiwin in Calgary.

Their first home game is a "Friday Night Lights" game Sept. 21st against CCHS out of Lethbridge.

in Calgary.
