Not sure if you knew this but a major international Shuffleboard tournament is coming to High River next year.

The 37th International Shuffleboard Association World Championships is coming here right after the Calgary Stampede next year.

Pretty cool right?  The World Championships...this is a big deal.

Men's and Women's teams of 6 will be arriving for the World Championships from July 15-20, 2018.

And this truly is a world event with Australia, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, UK, USA and possibly China, India and Russia making their way here for this prestigious event.

So, with that in mind Sun Country's Sarah Scott and our Agriculture Reporter, Jessica GIles along with myself ventured over to the curling rink to learn a few things about it and have some fun getting to know the members of the Foothills Shuffleboard Association.

Ken Wardley guided us through the steps and the rules.  It's not as easy as I thought it would be and there's a lot of stragedy involved.  Like a team chess game combined with curling.

If you want to find out more and take up a really fun, social sport they'd love to talk to you just go to their website for contact info.
