"It was really interesting, it was a long paint for me. It kept raining and it doesn't rain a lot in the Okanagan, and I would paint and it would rain. I would be covered in rain, and it would wash off and I thought wow, there's a lot of spirit in this healing mural."

She says it took her about four months to complete the project and adds there are many layers of colors in the mural that will stand the test of time and the elements.

She says her painting will stand the test of time.

"It took three, four months to paint and that was every day. There's layers and layers underneath that because I really believe that murals should have layers so that when natural erosion happens the color comes through. There's a series of painting underneath there that will always show through so they never fade."

She says she lives in the Okagogan but High River was a place she visited  and considered home and added it was a happy day to be able to give the mural to the people of High River.

The second mural was unveiled at teh Highwood Printing building downtown.

Artist Alex Pavlenko says his mural is intended to focus on the people in the community and adds we might recognize one or two of them as well.

"There's a lot of familiar faces in here. All the children for instance were from the local community, the brick layer is the Fire Chief and the gardener is a Librarian."

Joyce brown is the Librarian depicted and Pavlenko says the mural is intended to be a joyous jubilant scene.

He says some of his other murals have been in the Vancouver airport and museums throughout western Canada.
