Tornado activity in Alberta up this year

Alberta had eight tornadoes in 2022, a far cry from the 33 next door in Saskatchewan.

Of those, three were classified as EF1's including one near Enchant June 6.

There were 36 wind events according to numbers collected by Environment Canada and the Northern Tornadoes Project at Western University in Ontario.

The eight tornadoes this year are up from three in 2021 but a drop from ten in 2020 and eleven in 2019.

There were 76 tornadoes in Canada this year.
