This week the Association of Country Music of Alberta released the Top 5 List for the upcoming awards.

ACMA Executive Director, Marcie Hanson joined us on the morning show today to tell us why we got to know the list in advance of the awards night itself.

"Two reasons, one with Shaw coming on board they are going to broadcast our show across Western - Canada live again, they really wanted to have a little bit of pre-show hype.  We all gave thought how the best way to do that was and during the night of the show we announce the Top 5 from the 10 that move forward and so we thought this was a great way to do that and give the artists a little advance notice aswell and they can have some more excitement leading up to it."

Also new to the 6th Annual event is the addition of a second day.  The event will start on Saturday with afternoon workshops and a panel of experts plus the new addition of a Songwriters night.  Where two awards (Industry Person of the Year and Talent Buyer of the Year) will be handed out.

The line-up for Saturday night includes Blake Reid, Drew Gregory, The Orchard, Domino, Tanya Ryan, The Doll Sisters, Midnight Lights and Steve Arsenault.

Sunday will have the 2nd annual FREE Fan Fest will feature Jamie Woodfin who is nominated for Male Artist and Rising Star. Dirt Road Angels up for Group of the Year, Dani-Lynn, The Orchard who have nominations for Group and Song of the Year, and Kym Simon with a total of 4 nominations! Added to those incredible acts; Two Shine County up for 3 nominations, The Dungarees who recently won Project Wild 2016 and up for 3 nominations; follow that with our 2015 Group and Fans’ Choice award winners, Domino, up for another 3 nominations! Stellar line up you will definitely want to see!
