The Salvation Army has been collecting donations for its Kettle Campaign over the last 6 weeks and has been very successful so far.

Lieutenant Chad Cole of the High River Salvation Army says they are very close to reaching their goal.

"So far this year the kettle campaign has been going pretty well in the foothills, we are very blessed by the support of the community and the by the donations that keep coming in, as of December 16th we have raised a total of seventy-four thousand dollars and our goal is one hundred grand so we are well on our way."

The Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign helps to support the Salvation Army throughout the year and Cole says the campaign is arguably the most important fundraiser they have.

"This kettle campaign that we host every year around Christmas time, this six week campaign is what primarily funds our family services throughout the community of the Foothills County for six months, so it's our single most important fundraiser of the year and we depend on it immensely, the community support has been great thus far, I understand that many places aren't even close to their goal so we are in a very fortunate position."

Cole says while cash donations are always accepted people can also donate food donations to the Salvation Army Food Bank.

"Another way to give back is to donate food, we are always looking for fresh produce and meat that can be dropped off directly at our foodbank during business hours. If it's dried goods or canned goods those can be dropped off to any one of our drop-off locations around the community or to the Food Bank itself."
