The Balloons have been here for a couple of days now but Mother Nature has not cooperated for
the Pilots to be in the air with their wonderful flying machines.
A Hot Air Balloon is a lighter than air aircraft consisting of a bag, called an envelope, which
contains heated air. Suspended beneath is a gondola or wicker basket (in some long-distance
or high-altitude balloons, a capsule), which carries passengers and a source of heat, in most
cases an open flame caused by burning liquid propane. The heated air inside the envelope makes
it buoyant. Now You have the wickepedia explanation of what a balloon is, to me it is just
awesome to see in our sky and looks wonderful at night at the annual GLOW. The Glow tonight is
scheduled now for the west end of Macleod Trail in High River. Late afternoon the Balloons come in and
some will have a flight scheduled, others will just come for the GLOW.
The Flyers will be Home at The Bob Snodgrass tonight at 8pm taking on the Mountainview Colts,
so if you are a balloon fan join the crew at the end of Macleod Trail and if you are a hockey fan stop
in to The Rec Plex at 8pm!
Have an awesome weekend!
