Foothills school board trustees got an update on the Learning Technologies program at their last meeting.

Superintendent Chris Fuzessy says the department's done a lot of great work.

"It was an overview of the work from our Learning Technologies Department over the course of the year, so they have made great strides in migrating us to the cloud, the Canadian Cloud with Microsoft, introducing Microsoft Teams with also a significant reduction in costs," he says.

Fuzessy says the school division will be reaching out to the community on the One-To-One device proposal later this month.

"Sally Smith, our Director of Learning Technologies also touched upon the One-To-One device proposal and there had been a community engagement on that, and we will be reporting back to the community on that and our Vision 2034 engagement in later June but that plan is moving forward but it's being deferred for one year," Fuzessy says.

It would see the division provide devices to students with parents paying a deposit as they do now for things like text books and musical instruments.

It could be in place for the 2022-2023 school year.
